Every published profile shows a dated license check from the state's own registry and links straight to the clinician's own website, booking page, email, or phone. Couch Commons never receives the message. For clinicians, membership buys the tools and a fair place in the directory, never a license-check receipt, placement, referrals, or rank.

The product is the receipt
Not a badge, a shield, or a checkmark: a record that names what was checked, where, and when. The receipt prints the license number, the registry checked, the status it gave, and the date.

How the license check works
- A clinician gives name, credential, licensing state, and license number, exactly as the state registry shows it.
- Couch Commons checks the issuing state's own registry automatically, and again every day until it gives a clear answer. The registry must list the license as active under the name on the account.
- A match creates a dated public receipt: license number, registry, status, and date checked.
- No match means no receipt: the profile stays unpublished. A profile goes public only after the license matches and the clinician approves the profile.
- Published licenses are re-checked periodically. A pass re-dates the receipt; a mismatch pauses the profile while it is sorted out. Couch Commons never publishes a negative about a clinician.
What it does not prove: therapeutic fit, availability, insurance coverage, quality, or outcomes. Starting membership does not buy or guarantee a license-check receipt, a public listing, placement, or results.
Filters decide who's eligible. Money never decides who's first.
Search filters establish eligibility; a published fair rotation, reshuffled daily, establishes order. Membership, group affiliation, or payment cannot buy rank. The ordering rules are public on Couch Commons' own site.
Direct contact, narrow data
Couch Commons profile → the clinician's own website, booking, email, or phone → the conversation happens there.
Couch Commons does not store search text, visitor identity, seeker messages, IP addresses, or per-person click histories in that journey. It keeps day-level aggregate view and destination-click counts, which members see as totals. Full inventory: the Couch Commons privacy page.
Clinician membership
$19.99 a month or $179.91 a year, charged at checkout. The annual plan is 12 months for the price of 9. First 100 clinicians: the COMMONS100 code makes the first 12 months of monthly membership $0 (monthly plan only), then $19.99 a month unless cancelled. Membership renews on the selected plan until cancelled. All sales are final; no refunds or credits. One clinician, one account. Membership starts onboarding. It does not buy a license-check receipt, a public listing, placement, referrals, clients, rank, revenue, or results. A profile becomes public only after the license matches the state registry and the clinician approves the profile.
